What didn't they think of?!
Our tools aren't developed in some sterile laboratory. Festool engineers work hand-in-hand
with professionals who make a living using power tools to find solutions to their
challenges. For this reason, you may find yourself wondering what we didn't think
of.
You've probably already read about the major features of Rotex sanders, such as
the multi-mode operation,
dust extraction capabilities, durability,
MMC electronics, and
ergonomics. Below are details on some of the other unique and innovative
features of the Rotex family of sanders.
Plug-It Cords.
While the concept is simple, the Festool Plug-It cord just makes work easier. A
standard feature on all Rotex sanders, as well as the vast majority of Festool power
tools, the Plug-It cord attaches and detaches from the tool with a quick twist of
the wrist. What's the big deal about a detachable power cord you ask? Well, instead
of having a web of power cords all over the place, you can share a single cord between
multiple tools. Likewise, you can leave that one cord plugged into your Festool
CT dust extractor and have tool-triggered dust collection.
In a worst case scenario, what happens if your power cord gets damaged? Without
Festool's Plug-It cord system, you would not be able to use the tool again until
the cord was repaired. With Plug-It, you simply swap out the cord with one from
another tool and you're back in business.

Edge Protectors.
Again, it's a simple concept but you'll wonder how you survived without it. All
Rotex sanders are supplied with an edge protector. The edge protector snaps onto
the front of the sander quickly and easily, no tools required. It's designed to
prevent incidental contact with adjoining surfaces. Have you ever dinged a piece
of material trying to get into a corner? With the edge protector, you can get right
against an adjoining surface with confidence.

FastFix Pad Changes.
Swap pads in a flash, no tools required, on Rotex sanders. Just depress the FastFix
button which engages a locking pin then give the pad a twist to remove it. Hold
the button while you twist on a new pad. Never changed a pad on your existing sander?
That's because your sander isn't as versatile as the multi-mode Rotex sanders which
are capable of rough sanding, finish sanding, polishing and in the case of the RO
90 DX detail sanding. With your Rotex, you may want to swap from using it as a finish
sander to a polishing tool to buff your finish to a high gloss. Within seconds,
you're ready to go with FastFix!

Pad Brake.
Every Rotex sander incorporate a pad brake. The pad brake dampens the rotation of
the pad. Have you ever turned your sander off and sat it down on your work piece
only to realize that you didn't wait for it to spin down completely and damaged
the finish? With a pad brake, the sander spins down very quickly to a complete stop.
StickFix Abrasives.
Festool offers a diverse assortment of sanding abrasives and polishing accessories
specific to your particular application. The StickFix system makes swapping abrasive
types or grits quick and easy. Yet you don't have to worry about the abrasive coming
loose even during vigirous sanding.

Detachable Dust Channel.
The Rotex 150 FEQ has a detachable dust channel, no tools required. For applications
when you don't need dust extraction, simply push a button to remove the dust channel
for improved comfort and ergonomics. It clicks back on in seconds as soon as you're
ready to resume dust collection operatiions.

Auxiliary Handle.
The Rotex 150 FEQ comes with an auxiliary handle which can be attached to either
side of the sander. The handle offers additional control, particularly for polishing
operations.
